Services for Dr. John M. Newton, 89, Lewiston, N.Y., formerly of Clinton, Iowa will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Clinton Chapel of Snell-Zornig-Dennis A. Lemke Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Clinton. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Dr. Newton died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at Mount St. Mary’s Hospital, Lewiston. He was employed 37 years as a chemist at Clinton Corn Processing. He retired in 1978. He was born May 20, 1913, in Popejoy. He married Irene Vogt in 1941 in Grinnell. She died in 1992. Memorials may be made to Rivershore Inc., P.O. Box 884, Lewiston, NY 14092. Survivors include daughters, Martha "Marti" Blazick and Beth Savage, both of Lewiston; son, Steven M., Corrales, N.M.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
