Andre (Andy) B. Propes, the son of Claude B. and Delphine J (Carlson) Moore was born January 30, 1960 in LaPorte, IN. Andy joined the Army and was a combat engineer. When he was discharged, he attended and graduated from Purdue University, majoring in Landscape Architecture. Andy managed a nursery near LaPorte, IN. He married Cynthia Propes, and two children were born to this union. Andy moved to Iowa in 1997 and worked for AGP for several years, and was the founder and co-owner of Eagle Grove Tree and Shrub Nursery in Eagle Grove. He completed a variety of landscaping around the Eagle Grove Area, and volunteered his time with the City of Eagle Grove, moving the Gazebo Park, planting trees and flowers on Main Street in Eagle Grove. Andy worked the last three years with North Central Coop in Clarion, Iowa. He loved the people and his job hauling grain. He started his own landscape and nursery business with his long time friend and fiancé Wendy Borchardt. Andy and Wendy were engaged April 12, 2007. They lived in the country by Goldfield and were starting to build up the farm with chickens, horses, calves and gardening. Andy helped care for Holly and Donald, Wendy’s daughter and father. He thought of Donald like a father and Holly as his daughter, and was one of the hardest working men around. Andy was a fun, friendly, outgoing, honest person who made many friends here. He loved riding horses and spending time with the couples’ friends, The Montgomery’s of Duncombe.

Andy passed away on Monday, December 8, 2008 at his home in Goldfield, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his father, Claude B. Propes; grandmother, Alvina Smith; grandfather, Henry Carlson; stepfather, David J. Moore, Sr., and stepbrother David J. Moore, Jr. Survivors include his fiance’ Wendy Borchardt, Wendy’s daughter, Holly Jessen; daughter, Angela Propes of LaPorte, IN and his son, Brandon Propes of Minneapolis, MN; mother, Delphine Moore of LaPorte, IN; sister, Laurida Arion of LaPorte, IN, one granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 14, 2008 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.

GOLDFIELD, Iowa - Andre (Andy) B. Propes, the son of Claude B. and Delphine J (Carlson) Moore, was born Jan. 30, 1960, in La Porte. At the age of 17, Andre joined the National Guard of Indiana and served for 10 years. Andy was well known for his landscaping talents, which can be seen all around Eagle Grove, Iowa. Andy passed away on Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at his home in Goldfield, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his father, Claude B. Propes; grandmother, Alvina Smith; grandfather, Henry Carlson; stepfather, David J. Moore Sr.; and stepbrother, David J. Moore Jr. Survivors include his daughter, Angela Propes, La Porte; his son, Brandon Propes, Minneapolis; mother, Delphine Moore, La Porte; sister, Laurida Arion, La Porte; one granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, at First Assembly of God Church, La Porte. Memorials may be sent to the Andre Propes Memorial Fund, in care of Angela Propes, 1010 A St., La Porte, IN 46350.
