Robert Charles Trotter, the son of Charles and Ruth (Swafford) Trotter, was born October 7, 1925 near Eagle Grove, Iowa. He attended Evergreen Country School and later, the Goldfield school system. Robert entered the Army of Occupation in Germany on April 4, 1946 and was discharged on October 20, 1947. He was employed at various jobs throughout his life. He last worked for Knobler Industries of Sac City for 10 years, retiring due to ill health. Robert loved to play the keyboard and the harmonica. He enjoyed playing hymns, and left behind the testimony that he loved the Lord. Robert will be greatly missed by many.
Robert passed away December 8, 2008 at Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa at the age of 83 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and a 3 year old brother, Darrell Eugene Trotter.
Survivors include one brother, Kenneth Trotter of Clarion; two sisters, Naomi Hill of Dakota City and Edith Trotter of Hampton; eight nieces and nephews, Douglas (Sujeane) Charlson, of Nevada, Dorian (Pam) Charlson of Des Moines; Janine Witti of Fort Dodge, Janet (Mike) Craig of Fort Dodge, Daryl (Kelly) Charlson of Ankeny, Joyce (Terry) Nerhus of Fort Dodge, Dennis Charlson of Humboldt, Janella (Brian) Sandburn of Owatonna, MN and many great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 12, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove with Pastor George and Dr. Fran Pettigrew officiating. Burial will be Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield. Visitation is Friday from 12:00 p.m. until time of service. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
