URBANDALE, Iowa - Marlin Paul Jenison, 72, passed from this life on Saturday (Nov. 29, 2008) at the Kavanagh Hospice in Des Moines. In agreement with Marlin's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of Marlin's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, at Meredith Drive Reformed Church in Des Moines, of which he was a member. Burial of cremated remains will take place at 2 p.m. on Friday, at McDivitt Grove Cemetery in Urbandale.

Marlin was born the son of Paul and Maxine Nordschow Jenison on July 15, 1936, on a farm near Goodell. He was a 1955 graduate of Belmond High School in Belmond. On Sept. 9, 1956, Marlin married Ardith E. Johnson in Belmond and their marriage was blessed with three children: Teresa "Terri," David and Jolynn "Jody." He served with the United States Air Force from 1956-1960. For nearly 30 years, Marlin was employed with UNISYS, formerly UNIVAC/Sperry Corporation. For several years, he was also employed with Menards and Pioneer Hybrid. Marlin loved spending time with his former co-workers and friends over coffee. Two of Marlin's interests were planes and sharing World War II history. He was also an avid fisherman and bowler and enjoyed watching old movies on T.V. especially John Wayne Westerns.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Ardith Jenison, of Urbandale; one daughter, Terri Leick and her husband, Don, of Minneapolis, Minn.; Dave Schrage of South Bend, Ind.; sister, Meredith Ersland and her husband Gary of Clarion; sister-in-law, Lois Jenison, of Belmond; and five grandchildren: Jordan Leick, Taylor Leick, Christopher Leick, Kaitlyn Schrage and Brianne Schrage. Marlin was preceded into eternal life by his parents; brother, Merrill Jenison; son, David Jenison; and one daughter, Jody Schrage.

The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel located at 6337 Hickman Road, Des Moines IA 50322. In lieu of flowers, the family has respectfully requested that any memorial contributions be made to either Hospice of Central Iowa or Meals for the Hungry Fund at Meredith Drive Reformed Church.
