Geraldine M. Flatebo, 94, of Eagle Grove died on Monday Sept. 17, 2007, at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove. Services will be at 1:30 p.m., Thurs. Sept. 20, 2007, at The United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove with Rev. Mary K. Green officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.

Geraldine Mae Flatebo, the daughter of Hans and Clara (Carse) Hansen, was born September 5, 1913, on a farm southwest of Goldfield. She attended Evergreen country school and Goldfield High School. She was a member of various Evergreen community organizations and 4-H while growing up. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield, where she was baptized and then transferred her membership to the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. She was a member of the Naomi Circle and taught pre-school and kindergarten Sunday school for 17 years. On March 26, 1936, she was united in marriage with John J. Flatebo at Boone, Iowa. The couple lived near Eagle Grove all of their married life. They moved to Eagle Grove in 1974, after John's retirement from farming. She worked at the Club Cafe for several years, until the explosion in February of 1973.

Geraldine Flatebo died Monday, September 17, 2007, at Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove, at the age of 94 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John J. Flatebo, on February 1, 1989; two brothers, Harold and Gilbert Hansen; and grandson, Timothy Flatebo. Survivors include her children: Robert Flatebo, and wife, Nancy, of Rockford, Ill., Carrol Flatebo, and wife, Judy, of Eagle Grove, Mary Howard and husband, Wayne, of Clear Lake, and Joanne Howe and husband, Mark, of Beloit, Wis.; 15 grandchildren; 25 greatgrandchildren; and 6 great-greatgrandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday. September 20, at 1;30 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove with Reverend Mary K. Green officiating. Burial was held in Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
