November 17, 2005Robert Wayne Lee, 35, died Saturday, November 12, 2005 at his home in Madrid. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial gathering will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 17, at Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Madrid, where the family will greet friends. A memorial service to honor Robert's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 18, at the Ankeny Seventh-Day Adventist Church, located at 409 S.W. Maple Street in Ankeny. Interment of the cremated remains will take place on Saturday, November 19, at East Ullensvang Cemetery in Thor, IA.
Robert was born on November 23, 1969 to Charles Edward and Marlene Rose Chiba Lee in Maywood, Illinois. He lived in Cicero, Illinois until 1976, when his family moved to Fort Dodge, IA. In 1979, Robert moved with his family to Humboldt, graduating in 1988 from Humboldt High School. After graduation, he made his home in Des Moines and then Madrid, when he married Julie Jo Welter. Robert was employed with Northwest Steel Erection Company until his death. He was a member of the Iron Workers Local #67 and the Ankeny Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Robert loved spending time with his family, children and friends very much. He also enjoyed being outdoors; hunting, fishing, camping and working on his house. Robert took great pride in his work. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Julie Lee of Madrid; daughters, Josie and Jaden Lee both at home; mother, Marlene Johnson and her husband Ron of Humboldt; father, Charles Lee of Ridgley, TN; one brother, Jonathan Lee and his wife Belinda of Ft Dodge, IA, one sister, Jessica Schriber and her husband Jake of Gilmore City, IA; mother-in-law, Peggy Welter of Madrid; father-in-law, John Welter Sr. of Des Moines; two brothers-in-law, John Welter Jr. and his wife Tami of Mitchellville, IA and Jim Welter of Madrid; one sister-in-law, Jodi Isolini and her husband Rod of Madrid; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Lee; maternal grandmother, Emilie Marcotte; paternal grandparents, Jessie and Geneva Lee; and one uncle, James Marcotte.
Memorials may be made to The ROBERT W. LEE Memorial Fund established at City State Bank; 105 E. 2nd Street, in Madrid.
