Ralph L. Johnson, 67, went to be with his Savior on May 20, 2006, at his home in Dallas Center. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, at Iles Funeral Home - Brandt Chapel in Dallas Center, where the family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the service hour on Wednesday. Interment will follow at Brethren Cemetery, east of Dallas Center.

Ralph was born February 10, 1939, in Thor, Iowa, to Lancelot A. and Charlena J. (Haviland) Johnson. He attended Humboldt High School. He had farmed in Vincent and Thor with his wife, Janet. Ralph retired from the Iowa National Guard in 1986, after serving 30 years. He worked at Camp Dodge as a Heavy Maintenance Mechanic for 25 years, and earned the Army Commendation medal for exceptional meritorious service while serving as Platoon Sergeant of the automotive maintenance platoon 3655th Maintenance Company. After retiring, Ralph often helped his wife at the Iowa Bowling Proprietors Association.

He is survived by his wife, Janet (Hanes) Johnson of Dallas Center; two sons, Kelly (Kathy) Johnson and Nick (Melissa) Johnson, all of Dallas Center; daughter, Xan (Scott) Taylor of Grimes; six grandchildren, Scotty Taylor (11), Alex Johnson (11), Monica Johnson (10), Tabitha Taylor (10), Rebekah Johnson (9) and Andrew Johnson (6); one sister Janet (Delmer) Gonder of Spirit Lake; and his mother-in-law, Lina (Howard) Hanes of Dallas Center. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Richard Gray; and father-in-law, Howard B. Hanes.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Federated Church, Child Evangelism Fellowship, or the Iowa High School Bowling Federation.
