Thelma L. McDowell, 92, died March 27, 2003 at USA Healthcare of Urbandale. Services will be 1:30 p.m., Monday, March 31st at Grace Lutheran Church, of which she was a member, with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Thelma was born in Vincent, IA and formerly lived in Nevada and Davenport. She lived in Des Moines and Urbandale most of her life. In her early years, she taught in a one-room schoolhouse. She was also a sales clerk for Younkers. Thelma is survived by two sons, John of Des Moines and Matthew of Sealy, TX five grandchildren two great-grandchildren and a brother, Thomas Sebber of Atlantic, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband, John of 61 years. The family will greet friends and family from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at McLaren's Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to her church.
