Blake C. (BC) Dow was born 10/1/1949 in Hampton, Iowa, to Harold P. and Myrtle M. (Wininger) Dow. Blake passed away on Oct. 16, 2008, after a brief illness. He grew up on a farm in Dows, Iowa, and joined the U. S. Air Force in 1967. He was stationed as a firefighter at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana, where he met and married his wife Marcia, in 1970. He served in Thailand prior to the completion of his military duties. In 1971 the Dows relocated to Oklahoma so that Blake could attend Spartin School of Aeronautics in Tulsa. In 1972 Blake was accepted into the Tulsa Fire Department where he retired in 1999 as a District Fire Chief While living in rural Pryor, at one time Blake developed and operated a feeder lamb/lamb market business in addition to his fire department duties. He is survived by wife Marcia A. (Pfeiffer) Dow of the home, one son, Chad A. Dow, of East Moline, Illinois; brother Curtis and wife, Linda, of Dows, Iowa and numerous nieces and nephews. Blake will be laid to rest in Dows, Iowa, where his parents, who preceded him in death, are laid to rest and where he was raised. Visitation will be Sunday, October 19, from 6p.m.-8p.m. at Key Funeral Home in Pryor. Funeral service will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church at 220 N. Seminole, Claremore, OK, on Monday, October 20 at 4 p.m. under the direction of Pastor Barry Schwiesow of St. John Lutheran-Pryor. The Tulsa Fire Department Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Firefighters Burn Camp in care of the Tulsa Firefighters Credit Union, 9200 East 41st St., Tulsa, OK 74145, as Blake had been involved with this over the past 10 years.
