Webster City, IowaRecksta Davis, 98, of Webster City, died Monday, August 25, 2008 at the Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 30, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church east of Kamrar with Rev. John Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center and after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
Recksta Ubben daughter of Ben and Carrie Honken Ubben was born on August 24, 1910 on the family farm in Liberty Township. She received her education from Liberty #5 rural school. Recksta worked for several farm families prior to her marriage. On October 18, 1928 she married Harry Bartel Hanson at Kamrar. The couple resided at Galt for one year and then moved to a farm in Liberty Township that was four miles south of Blairsburg. Mr. Hanson died June 28, 1953. On December 9, 1967, she married Carl Wayne Davis. The couple resided in Webster City. Recksta's main vocation was as a homemaker. Carl died on April 4, 2001.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Virgil and Gleda Hanson of Nevada, Richard and Joyce Hanson of Hubbard; daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Curtis Draves of Webster City; three step children, Carla and husband Keith Nohrenberg of Iowa Falls, Ron and wife Nancy Davis of Clarion, Jerry and wife Marcia Davis of Boone; 8 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren, 6 step great grandchildren; 17 great great grandchildren; sister, Elsie Maples of Stanhope; brother, Edward Ubben of Webster City; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Walter, Arend, Leonard, Melvin, Benny and Willie Ubben; sisters, Rickie Wepel, Carrie Caruth, Berniece McCollough, Minnie Larson; half sisters, Grace Isvik, Katie Seiser, Lena Welch; 1 step granddaughter and 1 step great granddaughter, Angie Headley.
Recksta was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Kamrar. Funeral Home in Eldon is in charge of arrangrments.
