Marjorie L. Christians, 61, 4807 Byers Ave., died at 11:20 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 1996, at her home after one year of ill health. Mrs. Christians was born April 2, 1935, at Windom, Minn. She moved to Joplin in 1990 from Kimberling City. She assisted her husband in the home construction business in Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Iowa. They also worked with All-State Insurance Co. doing construction and repair work. She was a licensed beautician and had been an instructor at a beauty college in Broken Arrow, Okla. For 10 years, she and her husband were associated with the Upper Room Mission, doing mission work in Guatemala and the United States. She was a graduate of Rhema Bible Training Center at Broken Arrow. She was a member of Joplin Church Alive.

She married Ray Christians on May 28, 1952, at Clarion, Iowa. He survives. Additional survivors include two sons, Steven Christians, Bentonville, Ark., and Jeffery Christians, Joplin; four daughters, Jacqueline VanLoan, Joplin, Katherine Rayhons, Garner, Iowa, Shawn Minnis, Lubbock, Texas, and Lisa Fragas, Fayetteville, N.C.; five brothers, Robert Pierce and Richard Pierce, both of Mason City, Iowa, Theodore Pierce, Burlington, Wis., David Pierce, Grundy Center, Iowa, and Frank Pierce, Jane; five sisters, Loretta Palmer, Joplin, Rose Dishong, Fairmont, Minn., Betty Koenen, Bentonville, and Phyllis Diekhuis and Faye Greiman, both of Garner; and 19 grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church, Joplin. John Koehler, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Osborne Memorial Cemetery. Grandsons serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Christians, Allen Christians, Kevin Christians, Kris Christians, Travis Rayhons and Ryan Rayhons. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. Contributions may be made to the Upper Room Mission, Garner, Iowa.
