Helen Naoma Hoover, 78, of Longmont, Colorado, formerly of Denver, Colorado, died Tuesday, October 17, 2000 at Applewood Living Center following a brief illness. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 24, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Kanawha, Iowa. A Committal Service will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr, conducted by Reverend John Brillo. There will be a luncheon following the service at the First Chrisitan Church. There were no services planned in Colorado. Cremation was held at the Howe Mortuary, Longmont, CO.

Mrs. Hoover was born July 29, 1922 in Kanawha, Iowa to Henry and Tena (Thorsdahl) Lien. She attended and graduated from country schools in the Kanawha area and later studied at a business college in Des Moines, Iowa. She married Glen E. Hoover in December, 1946 in Kanawha. The couple lived and raised their family in Iowa until 1951, whereupon they moved to Denver, Colorado. They moved to Coronado, California in 1976 and Lake Jennings, California in 1978. Helen was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church of Kanawha and enjoyed social activities especially her gardening and bridge clubs.

Survivors include her son Stuart Hoover of Denver, Colorado; a daughter Mary (Mrs. Bruce) Farwell of Longmont, Colorado; and four grandsons: Matthew, Jay, Christopher and Jonathan Farwell. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1990; one brother Daryl Lien; and three sisters: Marjorie Simmerson, Esther Bryant and Carol Whitty.

Memorials may be made to the St. Olaf Lutheran Church of Kanawha in care of the Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman Street, Longmont, CO 80501.
