07/29/1996THORNTON--- Selma "Sally" Cordill, 83, died Saturday (July 27, 1996) at Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Gochenouer officiating. Burial will be in Meservey Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Grarup Funeral Home.
Selma "Sally" Cordill was born Nov. 25, 1912 in Scarville, the daughter of Andrew and Otilda (Bredeson) Chose. She attended school in the Scarville area through the eighth grade. Following school she began a lifetime career of being a cook and waitress for various restaurants in the North Iowa area. She was united in marriage to Claude Cordill in 1949 and they made their home in Iowa Falls for a short period of time before moving to Mason City and then Meservey where they lived their lives together. In 1984 she moved to Thornton before moving to the Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake in 1994. She enjoyed crocheting afghans, stocking caps and mittens for the RSVP program and her church.
She is survived by her sister, Mildred Borchet of Grafton; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two children; two brothers; and six sisters.
