Mrs. Rosie G. Christiansen, 77, of Clear Lake, died Monday, Feb. 6, 1995, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa. Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 9, at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Kermit Roisen officiating. Interment was in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake. The family suggests memorials in her name.
Rosie was born May 1, 1917, on a farm by Meservey, Iowa, in Franklin County, the daughter of Ben and Sena (Ahrenholtz) Vierkant. She attended rural school in Wisner Township. On Nov. 11, 1945, she married Floyd (Smokey) Christiansen at the Reformed Church Parsonage, Meservey. They farmed north of Clear Lake until 1960 when they moved to Clear Lake. Rosie loved to sew, make quilt tops for the church, and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake.
She is survived by a sister, Alice Esk, Clear Lake; three brothers, Bernard Vierkant, Jacksonville, Texas, George Vierkant, Glenville, Minn., and Henry Vierkant, Mason City, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; a special friend, Verbena Friesleben, Clear Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1987; one sister, Grace Harms; and a brother Herman Vierkant.
Organist Karen Harthan accompanied soloist Marilyn Sadler. Pallbearers were Rex Friesleben, LaVerne Lee, David Christiansen, Steve Hammond, Bernie Vierkant, Robert Christiansen.
