Adolph J. Krieger, 87, longtime resident of Webster City, died at 6:48 p.m. Friday [July 16, 1960] at the Hamilton county hospital where he had been a patient the past week. He had been in ill health the past two years. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic church with Msgr. A. A. Halbach officiating and with burial in the Catholic cemetery. Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Foster funeral home.
Adolph Joseph Krieger, son of David and Madeline Krieger, was born Oct. 16, 1872, in Alsace-Lorraine, France. When he was 15 years old, he came to the United States, locating in Illinois, where he was engaged in farming. He was united in marriage Feb. 4, 1896, to Josephine Marie Carpenter. Mr. and Mrs. Krieger resided on a farm near Somonauk, Ill., until 1904, moving to Iowa and locating on a farm in Wright county north of Blairsburg. In 1929, they retired and moved into Webster City to the home they purchased at 637 Boone St. In 1946 Mr. and Mrs. Krieger celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
Mr. Krieger is survived by one son, Adolph Krieger, Jr., of Williams; one daughter, Mrs. Fred (Emma) Rutledge of Blairsburg; four grandchildren, Mrs. Harold (Marie) Lundy of Webster City, Mrs. Jack (Lorraine) Gowdy, Williams, Francis Krieger of Blairsburg and Mrs. Junior (Dorothy) Heimke of Swea City; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife who died in 1952, by five brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Krieger was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas church and was a member of the Modern Woodman lodge.
