Mrs. Kepler dies at 85
Mrs. Myrtle H. Kepler, 85, a longtime resident of Webster City, died Monday evening at the Hamilton County hospital. She had been in failing health for several years but more seriously ill the past month. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Marvin E. Brewer officiating and with burial in Cass Center cemetery northeast of Webster City.
Myrtle Hannah Bowman, daughter of William and Hannah Bowman, was born Feb. 22, 1884, on a farm near Lehigh. When she was two years old, she was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. David Courter of Webster City, and she was reared and educated in the Webster City community. She was united in marriage in June, 1900, to James William Sherman Kepler, and the couple farmed north of Webster City for many years. She is survived by one son and three daughters: James W. Kepler and Mrs. Ethel Hudson, both of Webster City; Mrs. Charles (Helen) Riley of Des Moines, Mrs. Elva Underwood of Hawthorn, Calif., 17 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Nov. 19, 1940, and two sons, Melvin and Harold Kepler; by her parents, one brother and one sister. Mrs. Kepler was a member of the Church of Christ.
