HEART ATTACK PROVES FATAL

Funeral Services for Prosper Mourlam, 80, at French Church

DEATH IS SUDDEN

Prosper Mourlam, 80, died suddenly at his home, 621 Webster street, this morning [September 4, 1936] about 6:30 o'clock, following a heart attack. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the French Lutheran church, east of Woolstock, preceded by a brief service at the Foster funeral home at 12:45 o'clock. The Rev. J. J. Share, Methodist pastor, will officiate with burial in the French Lutheran cemetery.

Death Sudden

Although Mr. Mourlam had been in rather poor health for the past three or four years, he had been up and about the house as usual and seemed to feeling fairly well last night. This morning, when he awoke, he asked his wife what time it was and within a few seconds after her reply, he was dead.

Mr. Mourlam is survived by his wife, Mrs. Clementine Mourlam, eight children, four stepchildren, two brothers and one sister. The children are: Charles, Emile, Henry, Albert, Alfred, James, and Mrs. Edmund Malaise, all of Woolstock, and Mrs. Helen Jaynes, of Williams. The stepchildren are Mrs. James Demos, of Mattoon, Ill., Mrs. Raynor Mourlam, of Woolstock, and Raynor and Ester Histler, at home. Joe and Ernest Mourlam, of Woolstock, are his brothers and Mrs. Henry Grandgeorge, of Des Moines, is the only sister.

Born in France.

Prosper Mourlam was born in Wielderbach, Alsace, France, March 9, 1856. He grew to young manhood there and was employed for several years in the mason trade. He was married in France to Miss Sophie Kohler, and in 1889 they came to the United States to make their home. They settled on a farm near Woolstock and for many years Mr. Mourlam was one of that community's most successful and prosperous farmers. His wife died in 1923 and shortly after he retired from active farming, bought the home at 621 Webster street and moved to Webster City. He was married July 19, 1924, to Mrs. Clementine Histler, of Woolstock. Mr. Mourlam was a member of the French Lutheran church near Woolstock and in his younger days was prominently identified with the Woodman lodge.
