Funeral services for Arthur Torkelson, 75, Augusta, WI, formerly of Dakota City, were held Wednesday, Feb. 26, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta. The body was cremated and will be interred at a later date. He died Saturday, Feb. 22, at his home in Augusta, following a short illness. The Anderson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements, with Pastor William Jannusch of the United Methodist Church officiating. Survivors include his wife, Izola; one sister, Ethel Edge of Humboldt; and two nephews, Leroy Edge of Adel and Keith Edge of Livermore. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Arthur Kenneth Torkelson, son of Torval Edward and Anna F. (Sorlie) Torkelson, was born Dec. 1, 1916 in rural Callender. He attended a rural school and high school in Callender. He later moved with his family to rural Manson, and he graduated from Manson High School in 1936. He worked for a time on farms in the Manson area, then moved to Dakota City. He was employed by the Farmers Cooperative Elevator of Humboldt. He later worked for the United States Gypsum Company in Fort Dodge. He was united in marriage to Izola Ballard of Renwick in 1946, at Humboldt. In 1958, they purchased a dairy farm near Augusta.
