Lucinda Agusta Stone was born on July 29, 1907, to Rev. Ernst and Minnie Frank Schroeder in Ackley, Iowa, where her father was serving a pastorate in the Evangelical Church. At age 6, Lucinda played piano for Sunday School. She attended public school at Ackley, Fort Dodge and LuVerne, IA. She graduated from high school at LuVerne, where she had been editor of the school annual, on the debating team and did oratorical speaking. Lucinda was married to Raymond A. Stone. Her husband was a rural letter carrier and farmer. Lucinda carried mail when her husband retired. In LuVerne, Lucinda served her Lord, teaching adult Sunday School, president of the Women’s Society of Christian Service, played piano and organ, directed the choir or sang in the choir as needed. In 1950, the chorus group that she was in sang at the capitol in Washington, D.C. to the wives of Iowa Congressmen.

Lucinda became a resident of the Rotary Ann Home in Eagle Grove, Iowa on April 13, 1996. While there she played piano for the many residents until 3 years before her death. Lucinda died at the Rotary Ann Home on Tuesday, January 3, 2006, at the age of 98. She is survived by her son, Ronald Stone and wife, Marilyn, Johnston, Iowa and her granddaughters, Nanci Griffin (Don) Ankeny, Iowa, Julie Gardner (Mike) Ankeny, Iowa and Meggan Saunders (Ryan), Colorado Springs, Colorado and 3 great grandsons, Maxwell, Hudson and Bennett Griffin. Lucinda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Marcia, her daughter-in-law, Sally Stone, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
