Grace Martin Trask was born on June 18, 1912, at Renwick, Iowa, to Walter and Susie French Martin. She graduated from Renwick High School in 1930, and attended Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa for over two years and returned home because of the Depression. Grace taught in country school in all eight grades. In later years, Grace continued her education at Iowa State University in the early 70’s, receiving her teaching certificate, and taught in the LuVerne School system. On June 20, 1935, Grace married Charlie Trask in the home of her birth. They continued to live there as a couple until Charlie’s death in 1993. She continued living in her home until 1997, when she became a resident of Rotary Ann Home in Eagle Grove, Iowa. Grace was a member of the Renwick Baptist Church, where she was a Deaconess, Church Clerk, Sunday School teacher, and an active member of the Mission Circle. She was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served in several offices, including Worthy Matron. Grace helped organize the Senior Citizens group in Renwick. She served as President and received state recognition. She was an active member of the Renwick Federated Women’s Club. Grace was instrumental in helping with the French family genealogy and the Trask family genealogy. Grace enjoyed family gatherings and was especially fond of her children, grandchildren and great grandchild. Grace always felt other people came before herself and she enjoyed helping neighbors and being active in the community. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and sewing. Grace passed away on Monday, November 22, 2004, at Rotary Ann Home in Eagle Grove, Iowa. She was 92.

She is survived by her daughter, Martha Scheuermann and husband, Darrell, Cooper, Iowa, and two sons, Harold and wife, Pat Trask, Renwick, Iowa and David Trask of Mission Viejo, California. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Troy Scheuermann, Traci Scheuermann Houts, Pamela Trask, Matthew Trask, Michelle Trask, Vanessa Trask and Kyra Trask, and one great grandchild, Taryn Scheuermann and many nieces, nephews and friends. Grace was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two grandchildren, Michael and Roger Trask and three brothers. A memorial fund has been established by the family for the beautification of Elmwood Cemetery in memory of Grace Trask.
