March 6, 2004RENWICK-- Roland W. "Hohney" Hohensee, 67, of Renwick, died Thursday (March 4, 2004) at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt. His funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Renwick, with the Revs. Robert Dodge and Karen Dearchs officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the United Methodist Church with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Renwick.

Renwick, IaRoland Wayne (Hohney) Hohensee was born to Marie (Collmann) Hohensee and Milton A. Hohensee on November 21, 1936, on the farm near Western Nebraska. Roland was baptized at the Evangelical Church in Western Nebraska. He attended country school in Pocahontas, Iowa. He was confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Pocahontas. Roland served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. He married Lois Clark on August 17, 1958. To this union three children were born; Kenneth, Kimberly and Keith. Roland farmed for many years in the Pocahontas, Rolfe and Renwick areas until he and Lois bought a resort on Leech Lake, near Walker, Minnesota, which they operated for eleven years. Roland was a member of the United Methodist Church and a former council member. He was an active member in Izaak Walton League, Viona Lodge #538 A.F. & A.M., served on the Farmer’s Elevator Board of Directors, and the Oakridge Golf Course Board of Directors. Roland’s favorite activities included fishing in his new boat on Leech Lake, golfing, playing cards, visiting with friends and working as a farmhand in the spring and fall. Roland’s survivors include a very special friend, Mary Franzen of Titonka, Iowa; his children and their families, Kenneth, Sherry and grandson, Travis of Renwick, Iowa; Kimberly and Gary Erwin, grandsons, Adam and Alex of Mesa, Arizona; Keith, Paula and grandson, Nathaniel of Ankeny, Iowa. A sister, Lenora and husband, Martin DeWall of Pocahontas, Iowa; and a brother, Rev. Lowell and wife, Norma of DeWitt, Iowa also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lois; a brother and a sister. Roland will be missed by many friends and relatives.
