Services for Joseph M. Heggen, 94, Edwardsville, were May 21 at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, Bonner Springs. Burial was in the Edwardsville Cemetery, Edwardsville. Mr. Heggen died Saturday, May 18 at his home. Joseph was born Sept. 20, 1907, near Renwick, Iowa. He moved to the Edwardsville area in 1977, after retiring from a career in agriculture sales selling seed corn in Iowa. In his later years, he enjoyed flower gardening and volunteering at the Agricultural Hall of Fame, where he helped create all kinds of displays from barbwire to farm machinery. He was a member of the former All Saints Lutheran Church in Kansas City, Kan.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Thelma Heggen, of the home; two daughters, Ruby Martinez, Edwardsville, and Janet Hawkins, Bondurant, Iowa; two sons, Paul Heggen, Springfield, Mo., and John Heggen, Colfax, Iowa; one brother, Stanley Heggen, Bloomington, Ill.; nine grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to Kansas City Hospice of Riemann Gardens at Iowa State University.
