A memorial funeral service for Bernard P. 'Bernie' Anderson, 48, is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, in the Zion Lutheran Church. Pastor Mark Peterson is to officiate and burial in the LuVerne Cemetery was to follow with the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Kevin Propes, Mike Grebner, Brandon Grebner, Merlin Anderson, David Anderson and Dave Marty. Honorary bearers were all of those who called Bernie "A Friend."
A son of Harry and Charlene Blomberg Anderson, Bernard Paul was born June 22, 1955 at Hampton, IA. He was baptized in the First Lutheran Church at Dows and confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Renwick. Bernie received his education at Renwick and graduated from Boone Valley High School in 1974. He then went to work for Cenex Land O' Lakes in the Cedar Falls area. Bernie moved to Durham, Calif., and worked for Coca-Cola for 10 years.
He was married to Stacey Edwards at Durham on Sept. 20, 1986. They lived at Durham for a time then moved to the Renwick area where he worked at the Gold Eagle Coop. Bernie and Stacey lived at Goldfield for a time then moved to a farm east of LuVerne. He went to work for Crop Production Services in the late 1990s and they moved into LuVerne in 2002. Bernie was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church at LuVerne and the Izaak Walton League at Renwick. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, canning, splitting wood, taking care of his yard and mowing lawn. Bernie died unexpectedly Saturday, Feb. 14 (2004) on a road south of Corwith from injuries sustained in an auto related accident.
He is survived by his wife, Stacey, a son and two daughters, Kristopher Anderson and Kayla Anderson, both of LuVerne and Kelly Anderson, Seattle, Wash. Also surviving are his mother, Charlene Anderson of Eagle Grove; a sister, Lori and Mike Grebner, Tripp, S.D. and his wife's parents, Don and Marlene Edwards, Reno, Nev. His father and grandparents are deceased.
