Alta M. Briggs, 99, of the Resthaven Retirement Home, 1500 W. Truman Road, Independence, died April 28, 1991, at the Independence Regional Health Center. She was born in Renwick, Iowa, and lived in California before moving to this area in 1984. Mrs. Briggs was a licensed practical nurse, retiring in 1955. She was a member of the Enoch Hill congregation of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Survivors include two sons, Kenneth C. Briggs, Independence, and Clinton E. Briggs, Pasadena, Calif.; a daughter, Mildred L. Walker, Salinas, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel; burial in Mound Grove Cemetery.
