BELVIDERE, IL - Roland Alden Erdman Shipman, 56, of Belvidere went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 2, 2000. Born to Roland and Aldean (Nerem) Erdman in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on July 7, 1943. Adopted by Wilbur John Shipman in 1946. He attended Corwith-Wesley schools and Waldorf Junior College. Graduated from Iowa State University in 1967 with a degree in agricultural business. He married Deloris Lucille Dahle on Aug. 28, 1965, and they moved to Belvidere in 1967. He was employed by Green Giant for 21 years as well as by Woodward Governor and Riverview Farm Service. He coached YMCA flag football, YMCA basketball, Belvidere youth baseball, and was involved with Junior Achievement. He was a volunteer for the sheriff's patrol for Boone County. Avid White Sox, Chicago Bears, Iowa Hawkeyes and Iowa Cyclones fan. He was a member of Immanuel Garden Club, serving as an elder was president of Immanuel Garden Club and served on various committees. Survivors include wife, Deloris son, R.A.E. Shipman II, mother, Aldean Shipman of Corwith, Iowa; brothers and sisters, Jackie Herle of Kanawha, Iowa, Trudy (Ron) Cook of Beloit, Wis., Ramona Shipman and Angela (Dave) Anliker, both of Perry, Iowa, Brad (Mary) Shipman of Van Meter, Iowa, Sara (Wyatt) Earp of Des Moines, Iowa, Tonya (Dan) Butler of Aitkin, Minn., and Wade (Pam) Shipman of Fayette, Ala. Predeceased by father, Roland Erdman, adoptive father, Wilbur John Shipman, infant sister, Leann Lucille Shipman, maternal and paternal grandparents and brother-in-law, Merwyn Dahle.

Services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Belvidere, with the Rev. Eugene Wille officiating. Burial Thursday, March 9, in Lake Lutheran Cemetery, Renwick, Iowa. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 6, in the church. Arrangements by Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave.
