Darvin Lee Stover, 74, of Deep Creek, Fla., died Oct. 4, 2000, at Bon Secours-St. Joseph Hospital in Port Charlotte, Fla. He was born Jan. 4, 1926, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, son of the late Faye L. and Mabel (Spencer) Stover. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He married Margaret (Bonny) Harris Jan. 24, 1948. Dar retired to Florida in 1988 from Cedarburg, Wisc., after teaching and coaching in public schools for 36 years; 27 of which were in the Milwaukee public school system. At one time he was athletic director of John Marshall High School in Milwaukee. Dar was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, American Legion Post No. 110 and Deep Creek BPO Elks. He was also a member of Viona Masonic Lodge in Renwick, Iowa, Araba Shrine Temple, Fort Myers and 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Valley of Fort Myers. He was active in the Peace River Shrine Club and a member of the Charlotte County Shrine Club. Dar enjoyed bird carving and was a member of the Charlotte County Wood Carvers. He also was an avid sports enthusiast and joke teller and devoted "Pa" to his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife and three daughters, Jane (Michael) Leske, Joann Stover and Linda (Robert) Isnard; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his brother, Glenn Stover and son, Larry Stover. Memorials would be appreciated to Shriner Children's Hospital c/o ARABA Temple, 2010 Hanson Street, Fort Myers, FL 33901. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in Rock County, Wisc. Arrangements are by National Cremation Society, Port Charlotte.
