R. F. Gobeli service set for Monday
Funeral services for Robert F. Gobeli, 75, 7 N. Monroe, Mason City, will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Meservey. Mr. Gobeli died Thursday evening in a Mason City hospital. The Rev. Harlan Stenberg, pastor of the Grace United Methodist Church, Mason City and the Rev. Cleve Cook, pastor of the United Methodist Church, Meservey, will officiate. Burial will be in Meservey Cemetery. The Ward-Van Slyke Funeral Home, Clear Lake, is in charge.
Robert Frederick Gobeli was born May 25, 1893 at Meservey, the son of Gottlieb and Amelia (Paul) Gobeli. He attended the Meservey schools and worked on farms until his marriage to Lela Carter in Tennessee in 1922. The moved back to the Meservey area and she died in 1927. In 1936 he did custom farm work and was married to Nellie Moore. He later was married to Georgia Couch, Greenville, Tenn., on Jan. 1 1958. They continued to live in Tennessee where he was in farm work. The couple moved to Mason City where he was employed by the Mason City Brick & Tile Co., before retiring in June 1968.
Surviving are his wife, two sons, Fritz Gobeli, Mason City; and Roger, Greeley, Colo.; one daughter, Mrs. Bill (Beverly) Norris, Cheyenne, Wyo.; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Bobby (Arlene) Ramsey, Greenville, Tenn.; Mrs. Eugene (Imojean) Kroger, Kansas City; and Mrs Keith (Peggy) Pittman, Waterloo. Three brothers, Forrest Gobeli, Mason City; Lester, Thornton; and Albert, Clear Lake, one sister, Mrs. Alma Hopkey, Meservey; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive him. Pallbearers selected are nephews, Dean, Vern, Daryl, Leonard and DeLon Gobeli and Ardell Hopkey. Ralph Smith will be soloist and Mrs. Richard Halfpop, pianist.
