COULTER - Darwin H. Tripp, 69, of Coulter, Iowa passed away on Aug. 30, 2008, at his residence. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Morgan United Methodist Church in rural Dows. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton. Burial will be in the Morgan Center Cemetery in rural Dows. The Rev. Lexie Kirkpatrick and the Rev. David Bernhardt will be officiating.

Darwin H. Tripp was born on July 12, 1939, in Macy, Iowa, to Harold and Addie (Burkley) Tripp. Darwin graduated from Dows High School and attended Iowa State University in Ames. Darwin was married to Norma Foster on Oct. 7, 1962, in Thornton. He owned and operated Tripp Sales and Service, a grain vac business, in Coulter. Darwin also farmed and sold grain equipment. He was a member of the Morgan United Methodist Church and was very active in the church and his community. He had been a church officer, a volunteer fireman, taught fire service classes, and participated in fund raising for the Dows ambulance. He was Chairman of the Morgan Cemetery Board and a member of the North Iowa Area Landfill board. Darwin enjoyed socializing, helping people, working on projects in his shop, and using tools to create and improve things. He also loved spending time with his family.

Darwin is survived by his wife, Norma Tripp, of Coulter; daughter, Michelle and her husband, Greg Stotts, of Boone; his mother, Addie Tripp, of Iowa Falls; his sister, Marilyn, and her husband, George Disney, of Clarion; brother, Marlyn and wife, Karen Tripp, of Hampton, brother Arlin Tripp of Comanche, Okla., brother Gordon and wife, Carol Tripp, of Indianola and many nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Tripp. Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home.
