Arden William Mann, 64, of Littlefork, Minn., died in his home March 2, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer. Arden was born Oct. 20, 1943, to Arnold and Vivian (Jensen) Mann in Wadena, Minn. Arden attended International Falls public schools, and in February of 1961 Arden enlisted in the Army. He spent seven years as a member of the 25th Infantry division as an Army specialist. Arden’s tours brought him to places like Hawaii, Thailand, Philippines and Germany. During his military time, he lost a dear friend, Ricard Bunnis, to the war. Arden was honorably discharged in March of 1967. Arden married Rande Buchanan in January of 1967, and made their home in Klemme, Iowa. They became the parents to Jill Ann, James Ricard and Jodi Linn.
Arden was employed at Dorr’s Construction, Belmond, Iowa, and Klemme Co-op Grain Elevator and raised farm animals. In 1976, Arden and his family moved to Littlefork, where he became a dairy farmer. He was also employed by Promersberger Mill, and then at Larson’s Lumber. Arden divorced in 1988. He met a special friend, Christine Burmeister, whom he carried out the rest of his life with. Arden loved camping and fishing with family. His hobbies included raising animals, gardening and woodworking. Arden loved watching sports, westerns and his grandchildren grow. Arden will be most remembered as a practical joker and for his famous Easter egg hunts.

Arden was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Vivian; brother, Gary Mann; two nephews, Tom Mann and Shawn Ohlquist; and his dear pet, “Bell.” Arden is survived by his three children, Jill (Terry) Osse of Pengilly, Minn., James (Sandy) Mann of Lonsdale, Minn., and Jodi (Gary) Mann of International Falls, Minn.; nine grandchildren, Heather, Treavor and Ronissa Osse, Christopher Dexter, Jordan, Brianna and Mason Mann, Tyler Mann and Emma Pullar; five step grandchildren, Ashley Pullar, Allen, Jody, Brooke and Josh Mann; sisters, Joan (Leroy) Belanger, International Falls, Minn., Delores (Roger) Boorman, Littlefork, Minn., Beverly (George) Walla, International Falls, Minn., and Marcia (James) Ohlquist, International Falls, Minn.; several cousins, nieces and nephews; special friend, Christine Burmeister, James Elwood, Crookston, Minn., Susan (Marv) Verschelde Tony, Minneota, Minn.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at Littlefork Lutheran Church, with Paster Heather Wigdahl officiating. Family requests an interment at a later date at the Littlefork Cemetery. Memorials are preferred in lieu at the Fairview Northstar Hospice, Hibbing and Veterans Affairs. Arrangements are with Duluth Chapel Cremation Society of Minnesota.
