Belmond - Funeral services for Will S. Luick, 85, were held on Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist church. Rev. M. L. Jones officiated and Johnston Funeral home was in charge. Burial was in Belmond cemetery. Honorary pall bearers were Chester Luick, A. C. Lieuwen, Glen Crapser and Henry Brede. Active pallbearers were Bert Kalkwarf, Peter Kalkwarf, Lester Buserman, Bert Heykants, J. D. Saunders and Joseph Duggan.

Mr. Luick had been in failing health for some time and was in the Belmond hospital since the Friday preceding his death on Monday, Aug. 18. Willis Sylvester Luick, son of Sylvester and Irene Luick, was born at Eddyville January 12, 1873, but spend most of his life in the Belmond community. He was married to Nellie Bullis on July 19, 1894. Three daughters were born to them, all of whom survive: Mrs. Edith Hill, Belmond, Mrs. Ethel Tuttle, Clear Lake, and Mrs. Emma Watts, Clarion. Also surviving are his wife and a brother, Orrie Luick of Newman, Calif., 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Luick were early settlers here and celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in June.
