ROWAN WOMAN'S MOTHER DIES AT BRUCE, WISCONSIN

Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Steffens returned Tuesday from Bruce, WI where they had been called by the serious illness and death of her mother. Mrs. D. E. Fletcher. Mr. Fletcher returned with them and will make his home here for the present. Mrs. Fletcher had been ill for a long time following a paralytic stroke, and passed away March 18. Funeral services were held from the Federated church at Bruce, WI, Sunday afternoon, Rev. P. F. Pfaffman officiating and interment was made in the Bruce cemetery.

Florence Jane Smith was born at Cambridgeshire, England March 3, 1864 and died at Bruce March 18, 1936 at the age of 72 years. Her parents moved to Anerica when she was seven years old and settled at Steamboat Rock, IA. She received the greater part of her education at Eldora. She was united in marriage to D. E. Fletcher of Clarion on March 7, 1883. To this union ten children were born, nine of whom survive, namely, Ira of Milton Junction, Mrs. C. C. Steffens, Rowan, Harold H. and Dale E. of Bruce, Wis., Alfred C., Fedora, S.D., Mrs. Oscar Johnson, Los Angeles, CA, Mrs. C. F. Dray, Blue Earth, MN, Orville K., Cody, WY, Mrs. E. W. Thoman, Galesburg, IL.

The Fletchers moved to Bruce from their farm home between Rowan and Clarion 23 years ago. Mrs. Fletcher was a member of the Caley Lake Church, where both were active members. Friends extend sympathy to Mr. Fletcher and Mrs. Steffens and family in their sorrow.
