MARY LU (COX) OLSON, born November 18, 1942, in Belmond, Iowa, passed away Friday, August 22, 2008, in the comfort of her Houston home surrounded by her loving family. Her remains will be cremated and a memorial service will be held on Friday, August 29, at 11:00AM at Addicks United Methodist Church, 1212 Highway 6 North, Houston, TX 77077. Mary Lu is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Ron Olson; son, Dean and daughter-in-law, Ruth Olson; son, John and daughter-in-law, Barbara Olson; grandchildren: Elizabeth Olson, Courtney Olson, Daniel Olson and Tyler Olson; mother, Mary Jane Cox-Campbell and step-father, Bob Campbell; sister, Lucinda Cox McNeely; sister, Martha Cox Ho and brother-in-law, Fred Ho; brother, Robert Cox and sister-in-law, Julie Pollard; brother, Jim Cox and sister-in-law, Karen Cox. Her father, Luin Beach Cox, preceded her in death. In memory of Mary Lu, donations are requested to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 5005 Mitchelldale, Suite 115, Houston, TX 77092.

Mary Lu (Cox) Olson, 65, died August 22, 2008 at her home in Houston, TX surrounded by her family. A memorial service will be held August 29 at Addicks United Methodist Church in Houston. A second service will be held at the United Church of Christ, Congregational in Belmond on Friday, September 5 at 11 a.m.

Mary Lu was born November 18, 1942 in Belmond, the daughter of Luin and Mary Jane Cox. She graduated from Belmond High School in 1960. She attended Shimer College for one year and then transfered to the University of Iowa. On February 25, 1962 she married her high school sweetheart, Ronald D. Olson, at the Belmond Congregational Church. Mary Lu was a computer whiz, avid reader, and loving mother and homemaker. She was a member of Chapter P, Houston of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1980.
Mary Lu is survived by her husband; sons Dean (Ruth) Olson and John (Barbara) Olson; grandchildren Elizabeth, Courtney, Daniel and Tyler Olson; mother Mary Jane Cox Campbell and step-father Bob Campbell; sisters Lucinda (Cox) McNeely and Dr. Martha Cox (Fred) Ho; and brothers Robert L. (Julie) Cox and James L. (Karen) Cox. Memorials are suggested to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
