February 21, 1923 - August 9, 2008

Eleanor Jean Williams, 85, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2008 at Aspen Living Center in Colorado Springs. Eleanor, an only child, was born in Eagle Grove, Iowa on February 21, 1923 to Mr. and Mrs. Lee Roy Weir. She attended school in and around the Fort Dodge/Eagle Grove area. She married Clare Edward Williams on October 27, 1940 in St. Louis, Missouri. During their early married years they resided in Webster City, Iowa where their first 3 children were born and then moved to Colorado Springs where their last 2 daughters were born. Eleanor was a long time homemaker, raising her own 5 children as well as a caretaker for many additional children over the years until she was well into her 80s. Eleanor had been a resident of Aspen Living Center since March of 2007. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by a daughter, Regina in 1994 and her husband, Clare in 2003. She is survived by two sons and two daughters, Richard Williams (and wife Tammy) of Colorado Springs, Herbert Williams (and wife Berrie) of Denver, Margaret (Marty) Starkjohann (and husband Scott) of Austin, TX and Barbara (Joy) Huggins of Parker, 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom will miss her dearly. A memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at Memorial Gardens, 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, with visitation on Tuesday, August 12 in the evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family wishes to express our gratitude to the staff of Aspen Living Center for their support and care of Eleanor as she made a new home at Aspen this last year and to Pike's Peak Hospice for their guidance, support and care of Eleanor over the last few weeks.
