December 16, 2004Clinton M. Bohlen, Sr. - Age 85, of Black River, Michigan, died Tuesday, December 14, 2004 at home. On July 30, 1919 he was born to Edward and Sara (Cross) Bohlen in Alexander, Iowa. Moving to Berkley, MI and then to Big Beaver, he attended school there. Clint lived in Goodrich before moving to Flint. He married Thalia Ann VanCampen there on December 22, 1951. A longtime GM employee, he owned and operated Sentry Tool and Engineering of Flint for several years. Retiring in 1983 from GM he moved to Black River in 1983. He was a member of the Haynes Community Church where he taught Bible study for seven years; was a former member of Local #659; had been a Big Brother in Flint; a member of the YMCA's Indian Guides; Morgan Horse Association; Tri-County Sheep Association; and was former chairmen of the Alcona County Democratic Party. Clint loved farming and the outdoors in general. He was a labor advocate and dedicated Democrat and was well read in many subjects. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Patricia Anne Prutesman of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Suzanne Mary Bohlen of Flint; three sons, Clinton (Ginger) Mark Jr., of Alpena, Peter Frederick of Black River and Robert VanCampen of Grand Blanc; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Ellen Knox of Lapeer; and a brother Edward G. (Corinne) Bohlen of Goodrich. A sister, Ramona Mary Zeller preceded him in death in 1997. Friends may call on Friday, December 17, 2004 from 7-9PM and on Saturday from 1PM until the funeral at 3PM at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, MI. Rev. Claire Duncan will officiate. Memorials are suggested to Haynes Community Church.
