Sue Reed, 96, peacefully passed away March 5, 2006. Sue was born on February 19, 1910 in Alexander, Iowa, to Lupke and Mabel Schulte. She graduated from Alexander High School and Des Moines Business College. After graduation, Sue worked two years in Des Moines for Standard Oil Company; next with the War Department; then transferred to the Department of Justice (F.B.I.) in Washington D.C. After marriage to William Reed, Sue returned to Des Moines where she worked 14 years in the Iowa House of Representatives and retired as Chief Journal Editor in 1969. For over 50 years, Sue was active in politics and numerous community organizations, from which she was granted many distinguished awards. In addition, she was elected President of the Iowa Federation of Republican Women and served on the national NFRW board.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, William, of 55 years. She is survived by her daughter, Dianne, son-in-law, Howard Bozarth of Evergreen, Colorado and two granddaughters, Danielle Bozarth of New York City and Nicole Bozarth of Evergreen, Colorado.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2006 in the Masonic Cemetery Mausoleum located at 48th and Franklin. She is loved dearly and will be missed by her many friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Central Iowa.
