Iowa Falls -- Donald E. Ruigh, 84, of Iowa Falls, died on Friday, February 16, 2007, at Scenic Manor Nursing Home in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls with burial in the Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls.

Donald E. Ruigh was born March 19, 1922 at Meservey , Iowa the son of K. Clarence and Frieda (Waage) Ruigh. He received his education at Meservey and graduated from Meservey High School with the class of 1940 and later graduated from Hamilton College. Donald served his country with the U.S. Army during WW II. He was united in marriage to Patricia Jane Wilson on March 29, 1947 at Mason City. Donald was Executive Vice President of Citizens State Bank in Iowa Falls retiring in 1987. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls where he had been involved with the choir and was past finance chairman. Donald was very active in his community where he was a member and past president of Rotary, member and past commander of Hyman-Peavey American Legion post #188 served on the Iowa Falls School Board and was past president, he also volunteered with the Salvation Army.

Survivors include two sons, Judge Dale Ruigh and his wife Cindy of Ames, IA. and David Ruigh and his wife Susan of Unionville, CT; two daughters, Mary Mittelstadt and her husband Mark of East Windsor, NJ. and Patricia Ruigh Scott of Mahtomedi, MN; grandchildren, Kathryn and Stephen Ruigh of Cambridge, MA, Matthew and Brent Mittelstadt of East Windsor, NJ, and Collin and Audrey Scott of Mahtomedi, MN; two sisters, Ida Zickefoose of Severna Park, MD, and Melba Muhlenbruch and her husband Howard of Hampton, IA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Wilson Ruigh and a brother, Robert Ruigh.
