November 2002Robert James "Jim" Wilson, 86, Clear Lake, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2002 at the Good Shepherd Health Center, Mason City, Iowa. Funeral services are tentively set for Thursday, Nov. 7, 2 p.m., at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake. The Rev. Dennis Ganz will be officiating. Interment will be held at the Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of the service. Memorials may be given to the Robert J. Wilson Memorial Fund.
Robert was born Sept. 27, 1916, the son of Fred E. and Virgie (Potter) Wilson in Goodell, Iowa. Jim married Lois M. Kennedy, on Feb. 17, 1939 in Mason City, Iowa. He farmed south of Ventura and later operated Jimıs Restaurant in Crystal Lake, Iowa. He then went to work for Uland Brothers and did road construction for 25 years. Jim retired and moved south of Clear Lake, where he raised cattle and junked scrap to keep busy. He liked to go hunting, fishing, trapping and spending time visiting at the V.F.W. and Ellyıs. Jim loved spending time with his great-grandson, Mike, and taught him how to drive the lawn mower. He liked telling Mike funny stories.
Jim is survived by his grandson, Doug D. Wilson, Clear Lake; great-grandson, Mike D. Wilson, Clear Lake; a brother, Bill Wilson and his wife, Elsie, Ventura, Iowa; and a sister Marie Hamann, Ventura. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois; daughter, Charlene Wilson; son, Roger Dean Wilson; three brothers and two sisters.
