Edith Wilma Wierson-Swett, 87, of Ames, died Friday, July 18, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 28, at First Assembly of God Church in Ames, with Pastor Gary Pilcher officiating. Burial will be in Story Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Ames. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 27, at Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Edith Wilma Wierson-Swett was born May 29, 1921, in Kanawha, to Werner Martin and Sarah (Egemo) Wierson. She graduated from Thompsons Cosmetology School in Des Moines in 1941. She married Harold Swett Jan. 8, 1945. She was a member of Life Point. She enjoyed church and her Siamese cat, Tasha.
She is survived by three children, Byron (Rosa), of Slater, Raymond, of Ames, and Cheryl, of Ames; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vivian (Arnold) Moffitt, of Kansas City, Mo., and Sherri Morrison, of Lincoln, Neb.; and two brothers, Archie Wierson, of Ames, and Dave (Janice) Wierson, of Ames. She was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers, Ward, Stanley and Eugene; four sisters, Sylvia, Marie, Genevieve and Idellys; and one grandson, Andrew.
