Source unknown, ca. September 1937

Maggie Reemtsma, daughter of Ailt and Elsie Reemtsma, was born at Groothusen Ostfriesland, Germany on October 13, 1861 and passed away at her home in Goodell, Iowa on September 20, 1937. Her first husband preceded her in death about 47 years ago. Her first union was blessed with one son, George, who survives his mother. She was united in second marriage to Harm Rust on Dec. 10, 1893. The second union was blessed with three daughters and one son of whom one daughter, Ruth, preceded her in death in 1929.

Mr. and Mrs. Rust after they were united in marriage at Ackley, Iowa, moved to Goodell in the year 1894 where the departed resided until her death. Mrs. Rust was a faithful member of the Baptist church at Aplington, Iowa. While living in Goodell, she established here affiliations with the Reformed Church, at Meservey, Ia.

Mrs. Rust began to fail in health while visiting her husband in the hospital at Rochester where she fell down the stairway on August 23, 1936, breaking her hip and arm. On January 1, 1937, she suffered a stroke and since that time she was under the constant care of a physician and trained nurses, receiving also the best of care from her family. It pleased the Lord to terminate her earthly journey on Sept. 20, 1937, at the age of 75 years, 11 months and 7 days.

Those that mourn her departure are the bereaved husband, two daughters, Mrs. Anna Bruns of Goodell and Mrs. Elsie Carolus of Klemme; two sons, Albert and George, both at home; eight grandchildren, besides one sister, Mrs. Henry Rust, Adrian, Minn., and two brothers, Theodore Reemtsma at George, Ia., and Harm Reemtsma at Aplington, Iowa, also, many relatives and friends.

Mrs. Rust proved herself to be a devoted and Christian Mother. During the days of her suffering she found comfort and strength in the Word of God that abideth and the heaven and earth pass away. Funeral services were held at the U.B. Church Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Kampman of Meservey officiated, assisted by Rev. Dye.

Pallbearers were Gus Okreug, George Ruka, Chris Deiger, Will Beier, Will Rhodes, and O. Sandberg. Internment was in the family lot in Amsterdam cemetery.
