Stuart Ballou, 80, of Florissant, Missouri, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2008. Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 16, in Florissant. Stu was born on August 29, 1927. He attended Clarion Schools and was a member of the class of 1946. He left school prior to graduation to serve his country during World War II, and when he returned he completed his high school education at Clarion High School, graduating mid-term in 1947. He attended Drake University. As a U.S. Navy non-com during the Korean War, he was instrumental in organizing chapters of the Korean War Veterans Association in Missouri. He was State Commander for more than nine years and established six new KWVA chapters in Missouri. He also found time to visit former servicemen and women at the Veterans' Home in St. Louis and in 2007 was named Florissant Veteran of the year.

He is survived by his wife, Mollie (Shillito) Ballou; two sons, Doug Ballou and Brian (Kathy) Ballou; one brother, Philip Ballou; two grandchildren; and other family and friends.
