Ramona "Mona" J. Smith, 76, loved by all who knew her, died Tuesday, August 2, 2005. Mona was born February 12, 1929 in Kanawha, IA, one of ten children. She and her husband, Kenny, raised their two children in Wichita where she was a concert soprano soloist, taught voice, and owned an antique shop. They retired to Payson, AZ, then to Bella Vista, AK. Mona returned to Wichita in 1998. She will be deeply missed. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kenneth Smith. Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Scott Thomas and Sherry Smith of Crosby, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Rolf von Merveldt of Wichita; brother, Bob Munson of Delhi, IA; sisters, Donna Herrmann of Northfield, MN, Viva DeMerritt of Scottsdale, AZ and Lillian Bruins of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Sylvan and Andrew Shank and Misha Shimek; three great-grandchildren. Visitation 6:00 ~ 8:00 P.M., Thursday, Downing & Lahey Mortuary East. Service 11:00 A.M., Friday, Woodland United Methodist Church. Graveside memorial service 3:00 P.M., Saturday, Bella Vista Cemetery, Bella Vista, AR. A memorial has been established with Victory in the Valley, 3755 E. Douglas, Wichita, KS, 67218.
