Carel J. Oxley, of Mason City, formerly of Kanawha, died at the Mercy North Iowa Medical Center, Mason City, on Monday, October 28, 2002 of complications following vascular surgery. He was 75. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, October 31, at the St. John Lutheran Church in Corwith, with Pastor Ron Feuerhak officiating. Burial will be in the Amsterdam Cemetery, Kanawha. Friends may call from 4-7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Corwith. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Carel Oxley, was born on February 12, 1927, and lived for most of his youth on the rural Kanawha farm owned by his parents, Clarence and Alma (Schultz) Oxley. As a young man he entered farming with his father. He served in the United States Army from October 20, 1950 through July 21, 1952, and was awarded the Korean Service Medal.
