13 September 1955Ira Miller Dies Suddenly At His Home
Ira T. Miler, 75, longtime resident of Hamilton county and widely known farmer, died at 4:30 a.m. today at his home, 730 Walnut street. His death was sudden, due to a heart attack. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Foster funeral home with Rev. C.W. Dehne and Rev. C.H. Pettersen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery at Fort Dodge.
Ira Trotter Miller, son of James C. and Sarah Miller, was born April 12, 1880 on a farm in Wright County. When he was two years old he moved with his parents to a farm in Mulberry Center community of Hamilton county. He was educated in the Hamilton county schools and grew to young manhood in the Mulberry Center community. He was united in marriage April 9, 1913, to Miss Libbie Petersen, and Mr. and Mrs. Miller made their home on the Miller home place, residing there until 1935 when they purchased a farm in Fremont township. They lived there until March, 1951, when they retired and moved into Webster City, their home since.
Surviving are his wife, one son and two daughters: Mrs. Carl (Ruth) Elkin, Lyle Miller and Mrs. Grant (Maxine) Anderson, all of Webster City; five grandchildren, Jean and Darle Elkin, Larry and Patty Miller and Jann Anderson. Also surviving are two brothers and one sister; Lou Miller, J.W. Miller and Mrs. Lottie Schweppe all of Webster City. He was preceded in death by one son, Verne, who died in 1950; by his parents; five brothers and one sister.
Mr. Miller was baptized in the United Brethren faith. He was an active member of the Mulberry Center church, then later transferred his membership to the Evangelical United Brethren church of this city. Mr. Miller was a man of sterling character, of kind and generous nature and an earnest Christian. He will be grealy missed not only by the immediate famiy but by his many friends.
