Funeral services for Edward Eekhoff were held at the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church on Saturday, May 29, 1982 at 1:30 p.m. Burial was in the Amsterdam Township Cemetery at Kanawha with the Carter-Ewing Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Rev. Harold Westra gave the words of comfort to the family and friends. Mrs. Billy DeKruyff served as organist and Robert Engh sang two duets, "After" and "Home at Last". The ushers were John Bettten and Kenneth VerHelst. There were eight honorary casket bearers, Dale Eliason, David Baack, Robert Engh, Brad Ward, Dean Josten, Jeffery Eliason, Randy Ward and Samuel Bunk. Casket bearers were Dean Eliason, Todd Peterson, Dan Baack, James Josten, Charles Helps and Marvin Engh.
Edward Eekhoff was born January 7, 1901 to Jake and Emma Eekhoff of Kanawha. After several years he moved with his parents to Norman, Oklahoma, where he lived a few years and returned to Kanawha to farm. Mr. Eekhoff was a member of the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church. He was married to Marie Eenhuis at Kanawha and they farmed near Britt and later Kanawha.
He is survived by his wife, Marie; nine daughters, Mrs. Donald (Viola) Eliason, Kanawha; Mrs. Norman (Edna) Peterson, Corwith; Mrs. Donald (Mildred) Engh, Kanawha; Mrs. Dorance (Janet) Baack, Clear Lake; Mrs. Calvin (Ella) Josten, Ventura; Mrs. Raymond (Esther) Helps, Klemme; Ida Eekhoff, Kanawha; Mrs. Chris (Marie) Eekhoff Bunk, Renwick; Mrs. Douglas (Lois) Ward, Cedar Rapids; 25 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, George of Belmond and John of Kanawha; two sisters, Mrs. Anton (Ella) Smidt and Mrs. Fred (Jennie) Meyer, both of Kanawha. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and twin daughter
