Mrs. Wiert Johnson, nee Abbas, was born April 8, 1848, at Ostfriesland, Germany, and passed away September 29 at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 21 days. She was married to Wiert Johnson on July 25, 1875. This union was blessed with nine children of which four preceded her in death. She came to America in the year 1882 and moved to Wright county in the fall of 1892. She made confession of faith in the Netherlands and has been a faithful member of the Christian Reformed church of Wright county. She was a loving mother, and enjoyed being at home with her mother.

She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, who has been an invalid for the past eight years; also three sons and two daughters, namely, George and Mrs. Bert Brower, of Kanawha; John and Wiert, at home; Mrs. H. P. Eekhoff, of Reading, Minn. Ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. H. Riekens, of Kanawha, also survive, beside a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 2, in the Wright Christian Reformed church, the Rev. J. M. Voortman in charge. The text of his sermon was Hebrews 9:27. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Funeral services were held at the Wright Reform church near Kanawha Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Wiert Johnson, 86, who passed away Friday at the farm home of the Johnsons. The Rev. J. M. Voortman officiated at the funeral. Music was furnished by the choir. Burial was in the Wright cemetery.

Stientje Abbas Johnson was born on April 8, 1848, at Wienner Ausfriedland, Germany, and came to this country after her marriage to Wiert Johnson in Holland July 25, 1975. To this union seven children were born of whom two, Mrs. Abbie Willemson and Aaron preceded their mother in death. The other children are (Fannie) Mrs. Bert Brower, (Mary) Mrs. Peter Eekhoff, Wiert, John and George, all within the vicinity of Kanawha. Besides her children and her husband Mrs. Johnson is survived by one sister, Mrs. H. Riekens of Kanawha, ten grandchildren of whom two, Mrs. Roy McNeish and Wiert Willemson, live in Kanawha; three great grandchildren and other relatives.
