Clarion, IowaFuneral services for Robert R. Veldhouse were held from the Chapel of the Eyler-Willim Funeral Home in clarion on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Father Cecil McSweeney officiated and burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. Military rites were given by the American Legion and V.F.W. Bearers were: David Veldhouse, Robert, Kenneth and Gerald Hill, Jerry Weir and Robert Johnson.
Mr. Veldhouse died at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines on Thursday afternoon, August 20, 1981. He had been at the hospital for the past several weeks. Death was due to cancer. Born at Kanawha, Iowa on March 11, 1919 he was the son of Phillip and Bessie Spitler Veldhouse and grew to manhood in the area of his birth. He served in the Army in World War II. After the service he returned to Wright County and lived in Clarion. He was a carpenter by trade.
He is survived by four brothers, William of Humboldt, Nick of Clarion, Dale of Kanawha and Duane of Norcross, Minn. His parents, three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Bob was a member of the Catholic Church and the Clarion V.F.W.
