Former Syracuse area resident Elmer Groh, 73, died Sunday in Harlingen, Texas. A native of Kanawha, Iowa, Mr. Groh also lived in Mason City, Iowa, before moving to the Syracuse area. He retired in 1982 as a machinist with Carrier Corp. Mr. Groh lived in Manly, Iowa, since 1988 and was a winter resident of Texas.

Surviving are his wife, Hedie; a son, Alan of Manly; two daughters, Diana Baxter of Central Square and Gloria Groh of East Lynn, Mo.; five sisters, Pauline Bull, Delores Miller and Lorraine King, all of Mason City, Dorothy Larkin of Albert Lea, Minn., and Rosie Redmond of Marion, Iowa; two brothers, Victor of Thonton, Iowa, and Donald of Des Moines, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Trinity Lutheran Church, Mason City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major-Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Penn St., Mason City.
