September 7, 1994Marie L. Blank, 80, Bemidji, died Sunday, Sept. 4, 1994, in North Country Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Bemidji. Marie Kambeer was born Aug. 10, 1914, in Eldkader, the daughter of George and Alice Kambeer. She married Cecil Blank. April 6, 1933, in Wells, Minn., and they farmed in Kanawha, Iowa. The couple moved in 1943 to Richmond, Calif., and in 1944 to Carr Lake, near Bemidji, where they manufactured the Blanks "49er" fishing lure. They moved in 1982 to Bemidji. He died Sept. 12, 1992.
She is survived by sons, Merle, Oak Ridge, Tenn., Joe, Red Wing, Minn., and Robert, Virginia, Minn., daughters, Arlene (Mrs. Arnold) Tangborn, Guthrie, Minn., Esther (Mrs. Adrian) Vorderbruggen, Brookston, Minn., and Evelyn (Mrs. Harry) Creger, Minneapolis; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a brother, George, Shellsburg, Iowa; and sisters, Vera (Mrs. James) Drabek, Des Moines, Iowa, Florence (Mrs. Iven) Norstrud, Britt, Iowa, and Pearl (Mrs. George) Bahr, Mankato, Minn. She was preceded in death by five grandsons; brothers, Leo and Clifford; and sisters, Alice Bashan, Clara, Oxley and Dorothy in infancy.
Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday in Olson Schavartz Funeral Home, Bemidji. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home. Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Bemidji.
