June 12, 1995Orville Hovelson, 83, Madelia and formerly of Gary, Minn., died Saturday, June 10, 1995, in Lake Crystal (Minn.) Health Care Center.
Orville T. Hovelson was born Dec. 14, 1911, in Gary, the son of Lewis and Selma (Norby) Hovelson. He graduated from Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston in 1932. He married Mildred Eeg May 4, 1940, and they farmed in northern Minnesota until 1944, when they moved to Kanawha, Iowa. He worked for the Iowa Breeders Association. They moved in 1948 to Ada, Minn., where he managed the Land O'Lakes Feed and Seed store until it closed in the 1950s. They then lived in northern Montana, where he did carpentry work. They moved back to Ada in 1956, and he continued to work construction until 1964, when he went to work for Concordia College in Moorhead in the maintenance department. He retired in 1975. He had lived in Bagley, Minn., and Madelia for the last several years.
He is survived by his daughter, Rachel (Mrs. Ron) Hanson, Madelia; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Lloyd, Gary, Charles, Red Wing, Minn., Hilmer ''Pete,'' Richfield, Minn., and Russ, Canyon Lake, Texas; and sisters, Myrtle Erickson, Kenyon, Minn., Maxine (Mrs. Loris) Larson, Minneapolis, and Dorothy (Mrs. Truman) Tilleraas, Fargo. He was preceded in death by his wife; and one brother, Ray.
Services:10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Petri Lutheran Church, near Gary. Visitation:One hour before services in the church. Burial: St. Petri Cemetery, Gary (Mattson, Mahnomen, Minn.).
