April 22, 2000Edna Roberts, 101, Shelbyville, dies
SHELBYVILLE. IL - Edna A. Roberts, 101, of Shelbyville died 12:25 p.m. Thursday (April 20, 2000) in Lutheran Care Center, Altamont. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, with visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, near Shelbyville. Memorials: First Baptist Church, Shelbyville.
Mrs. Roberts was born in Kanawha, Iowa, on Dec. 21, 1898, the daughter of Joseph Paul and Ruth Ann Elizabeth Hewerdine Shaffer. She graduated from Chicago School of Nursing and retired as obstetrics nurse from Shelby Memorial Hospital, Shelbyville. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Shelbyville. She married Otha B. Roberts on Aug. 14, 1937, in Windgate, Ind. He preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 1954.
Surviving are her daughters, Delores Taylor and husband David of Decatur; Helena Ruth Hawbaker and husband Lynn of Macon; daughter-in-law, Mary Roberts of Effingham; grandchildren, Kelly Willson and husband Roger of San Diego, Calif.; Kristy DeBoer and husband Jerry of Woodridge; Brad and Brian Hawbaker, both of Macon; Kurt Roberts and wife Jennifer of Lincoln; Amy McCaffrey of Orlando, Fla.; great-grandson, Branden McCaffrey of Orlando, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband, son, Asa B. Roberts, five brothers, three sisters and one grandchild.
